Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 護理學研究所 === 96 === The aim of this study was to examine the effect of home based aerobic exercise program on sleep habit in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Fourteen pediatric oncology patients in the experimental group and ten in control group who were matched by age and sex participated in this quasi-experimental study during August, 2006 to July, 2007 in a pediatric oncology center where is located in north of Taiwan. Children's sleep habits questionnaire and Physical activity record questionnaire were used for data collection. A six-week home-based aerobic exercise program which is progressively exercise 15-30 minutes per day by a video disk was implemented to patient who were in experimental group while patients at control group only receive the usual care. Paired t test, Chi-square test, and mixed models were used for data analysis. The result indicated that adherence rate for the exercise program in the experimental group was ranged 71.4% to 85.7%. The results shown that there were no differences on Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire and its subscales (including bedtime resistance, sleep-onset delay, sleep duration, night wakings, parasomnias, sleep disordered breathing, and daytime sleepiness)among two groups. However, the subscale of sleep anxiety was significantly lower for patient who received the exercise intervention than those in control group at follow-up assessment
