The utility must continuously develop new power plants and construct more transmission lines to cope with the rising demands. New facilities are typically built away from dense population areas due to the high prices of land acquisition. Therefore, long transmission lines are required to transport electricity to load centers. Typically, static series capacitor bank is used to increase transmission capacity, therefore, reduce the transmission costs. But it can lead to the counter-compensation between natural resonance frequency and torsional frequency of shaft which would induce sub-synchronous resonance oscillation and the damping ratio would be reduced. Therefore, adding Thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC) would alleviate above-mentioned problems. TCSC would change the series compensation level by the state of the system and it can further reduce the transmission losses in addition to the suppression of sub-synchronous resonance. This thesis will discuss the influence of the disturbance of synchronous generator exciter and the three-phase balanced faults in the power system. Four kinds of controllers are established to be applied to counter disturbances. Systems and controllers are built and simulated in Power System Computer Aided Design/ElectroMagnetic Trasient for DC (PSCAD/EMTDC). Improvements by different controllers and compensation ratios to power swing are discussed. S.-J. S. Tsai 蔡樹仁 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 128 zh-TW |
