Therefore in recent years, network processors have risen and accomplished efficient packet processing. Packet classification is the new generation of the function of routers and switches. Packet classification can provide internet routers with more network services, such as network security, QoS routing, and resource reservation. Efficient packet classification is a high interest of both academic circles and the industry. On one hand, the processing of enormous loads of packets is an urgent matter concerning network security and QoS. On the other hand, increasing the network load and processing this load using packet classification is a big challenge. For these reasons, packet classification is a difficult and unsolved problem, which is a great topic in network research. This paper has to employ HiCuts, a packet classification algorithm, and this method is implemented on the IXP2400 network processor.
