The objectives of this research were as followings: 1. to recognize the conditions of the self-esteem, health behaviour self-efficacy, and health-promoting lifestyle for people with spinal cord injury; 2. to explore the difference between demographic variables and self-esteem, health behaviour self-efficacy, and health-promoting lifestyle for people with spinal cord injury; 3. to constructing the model of self-esteem, health behaviour self-efficacy, and health-promoting lifestyle for people with spinal cord injury. The 410 participant was recruited from the Association of Spinal Cord Injury in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung, and the collective rate of questionnaires was 45.6%. the data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, one-way MANOVA, and structural equation modeling (SEM). The instruments included Self-esteem scale, Health behaviour self-efficacy scale, and Health-promoting lifestyle profile for people with spinal cord injury. The results were summarized as followings: 1. The grade of spinal cord injury in self-esteem (M=3.33) was better level, and health behaviour self-efficacy (M=3.59) was above average, and health-promoting lifestyle (M=2.64) was in central point. 2. There is a higher score of ‘self-esteem’ level for people with spinal cord injury, especially in demographic variables of female, elder, higher education, married, living with family, and no particular chronic disease. 3. There is a higher score of ‘health behaviour self-efficacy’ level for people with spinal cord injury, especially in demographic variables of female, higher education, living with family, shorter duration of injury, and no particular chronic disease. 4. There is a higher score of ‘health-promoting lifestyle’ level for people with spinal cord injury, especially in demographic variables of female, younger, higher education, married, living with family, shorter duration of injury, impairment of the lumbar vertebra, and no particular chronic disease. 5. The model of health-promoting behaviour for people with spinal cord injury by the analysis of SEM, both of health behaviour self-efficacy and health-promoting lifestyle domain were affected by self esteem domain. Besides, health-promoting lifestyle domain was affected by health behaviour self-efficacy domain Zin-Rong Lin 林晉榮 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 124 zh-TW
