While analyzing the teaching activity processes in the classroom, which disciplinary power mechanism should be applied? What disciplinary power strategies did the teacher exercise? What kind of “teacher” body was reflected? “Student” body? The research further explored Foucault’s theory of disciplinary power applied on a small class in a small school to what extent. This research utilized the observations on video recordings, the observations of the researcher herself in the classroom, and aided with interviews and school administrative data. This research showed that in the teaching processes, the school administration system and teaching system were the two major forces acting on the teacher/student bodies through space allocation, time management, and formulation of teaching activities to create different disciplinary measures that emphasize on the uses of standardization and regular pattern. In the meantime, the teaching exercises demonstrated a “teacher 􀀧 student 􀀧 student” monitoring relations, and self-monitoring teacher body/student body. However, theory and reality were not exactly the same where the actual teaching processes showed no disciplinary influences from the composition of forces and hierarchical observation. The researched results were based on the use of Foucault’s theory of disciplinary power as an instructional guide for class management. While educational physical- punishment is in the time of reformation, further study is recommended to use Foucault’s theory of disciplinary power to investigate feasible measures and schemes for educational physical-punishment.
