Summary: | 碩士 === 國防大學中正理工學院 === 電子工程研究所 === 97 === Nowadays, the national army consumes heavy manpower to deal with asset management issues. Hence, this research proposes a RFID-based asset management architecture for reducing the burden of asset managers. In order to provide high efficiency, we investigate current operational procedures of asset management firstly. Then, this thesis develops a RFID-based asset management system by utilizing the following technologies: RFID, Web Services, AJAX Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), PDA(Personal Digital Assistant)and mobile computing. Four functional components, Asset Addition, Asset Query and Stocktaking, Asset Transfer, Asset scraping, are developed into a server to serve as the information management platform. The users are allowed to operate system’s functions on demand through
internet after passing authentication and authorization. Also, asset managers can comfirm the authenticity of assets by validating the unique code of the RFID attached on the asset and the image of the asset. Meanwhile, asset owners can use a PDA with an embedded RFID reader to do asset stocktaking. Besides, we design an active reminding unit to inform managers by sending emails to do appropreiate actions for well management. Specifically, the system provides a function of the visualization of asset locations. Asset manager can easily understand where the assets are and their related information by using this function. Finally, we practically deploy the developed RFID-based asset management system in the Digital Control Lab at Chung Chung Institute of Technology, National Defense University. Several operational scenarios have been conducted to validate its effectiveness. The results show that the system can improve the operational efficiency of the current asset management. It is believed that the research result of this thesis can be a useful reference for the national army to construct asset management systems.
