Because of the high cost of component manufacturing, optical networks are not popular at present. During the manufacturing of active components, alignment and packaging are the key factors for the cost. Among others, the alignment of multi-fiber components is the most critical. This research first uses the “Blind Search Method” to realize the distribution of the source roughly. Next, “Nelder-Mead Simplex Method” is used for coarse alignment. Then, “Steepest Descent Method” is applied to refine the alignment. Finally, “Simple Hill-climbing Search” is used for three axes angular alignment to get the accurate position of the minimum the optical-power loss. Therefore, the proposed technology of active multi-fiber alignment can replace the expensive manpower alignment, and multi-fiber active components are more efficient than single-fiber ones in data transfer rate. The difficulties on the construction of optical networks can be solved easily. Tsung-Yin Lin 林聰穎 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 95 zh-TW
