Several parameter tunings on the structure dimensions for improving the energy band-gap and the slow wave factor are discussed in detail in the thesis. In the application aspects, the miniature ring hybrid is demonstrated at the first, and then the microstrip bandpass filter with wide spurious suppression for WiMAX systems using the proposed structure is examined. Finally, the basic concept utilizing the electromagnetic band-gap structure on the output matching in active devices is addressed for enhancing circuit linearities and 1 dB compression point.
