Summary: | 碩士 === 元智大學 === 機械工程學系 === 95 === Even though fuel cells have been researched academically for several years, they are still not commonly available in mass production. This is because the materials to make full cells are so expensive, the efficiency is not as good as lithium batteries and the quality control is not mature. These factors drive the production price to stay high. Furthermore, today there is no standard protocol in the industry regarding full cells manufacturing, this makes the integration of products becomes difficult.
The goals of this research project are to introduce the different types of full cells and to provide the information on design trending and drawbacks. This project also analyzes the impacts of fuel cells to the retailers and the 3C industry.
Nowadays, the highest potential in 3C industry is direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC), which is extended from the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). DMFC is a low temperature fuel cell (LTFC). Due to the size of the cell, it is suitble for handheld electronic products. The cell uses chemical reaction to produce electricity and the byproduct is primarily water. So the DMFC is environmental friendly and energy saving.
In the research, all the current fuel cell technologies will be studied at the beginning. Then analysis and discussion will be done based on the 3C industry requirements. After the analysis, 3D models will be used to present different fuel cell components and their specifications. In conclusion, the forecast of the development and demands of fuel cells in the 3C industry will be made.
