Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 95 === In this thesis, a peer-to-peer ALM streaming system is proposed, called PNECOS which is the abbreviation of Peer-to-peer NEtwork COding based Streaming service system. Meanwhile, a novel technology named network coding is exploited to upgrade the scalability and availability of PNECOS. Network coding is a novel technology for rising throughput and lowing bandwidth consumption under variant multicasting environments. There are two features in improvements brought by network coding: 1) multicasting neutrality: raise the throughput and reduce the redundant data transmissions. 2)stateless storage: provide a stateless coding mechanism to encode and decode data without considering the sequential issues. The improved key of PNECOS is to extend the effects of end hosts’ buffer space by stateless storage feature of network coding. To evaluate the benefit of this combination, rigorous simulations are also performed. And, a preliminary analysis on the applicability of network coding for a streaming system is carried out as well.
