Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 化學工程與材料科學學系 === 95 === The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of micro-porous layer on the performance of the proton-exchange-membrane fuel cells. The micro-porous layer used in the experiments is acetylene-black. The variation of the carbon loading and the FEP content on the cell performance is evaluated. It is important to maintain gas diffusion layer with proper hydrophobicity in order to avoid the cathode flooding at high current density condition. The experimental results showed that the coated micro-porous layer on the carbon paper can effectively minimize the cathode flooding and as a consequence, achieve better cell performance. A better fuel cell performance was obtained at the carbon loading of 0.5 mg/cm2 and C:FEP=1:0.7. A thin micro-porous layer with good hydrophobic property improves the characteristics of the gas diffusion layer .Too much FEP content will block the passage of oxygen gas through the gas diffusion layer. On the other hand, an insufficient FEP content cannot remove water effectively in the cathode.
