Summary:碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 漢學資料整理研究所碩士班 === 95 === Cai Qiu-Tong(1900-1984)was born in Yunlin county, whose novels in Japanese Occupied Period were applied with plenty Taiwanese(native tongues). He did not avoid using bad language and proverbs in his work. So that his novels witnessed the pervasion of literature and at the same time revealed the vitality of Taiwan’s society. This thesis tries to present the value of his works and reconstructs of his writing process by ways of the following methods. First, exploring the influences of his novels through analyzing the life of Cai Qiu-Tong and his writing background. Secondly, besides reflecting the real world from novels, how did Cai Qiu-Tong express the protest on writing? Did he care about the canaille? Finally, if being a baozheng(保正)and normal person makes Cai Qiu-Tong use the humorous and ironic style on describing characters and written words. Further, his using of Taiwan native tongue was intentional or it merely follows the tides of literature and art at that time.To sum up , Cai Qiu-Tong not only expressed his the protest of the society but also tried to make literature all-pervading. His works shows the enlightenment and humanism to common people, and it reveals the spirit of independence of Taiwan.
