The Labor Standards Law allows the workers working under this irregular system to decide the working hours with their employers. Due to the permission of irregular arrangement, workers will tend to sacrifice their working life to compete for better performance. This study surveys the quality of the working life of the engineers working in Hsin-chu Science Industrial Park. This paper compares the engineers working under regular working hour system and those who working under Special Job-based Irregular Working-Hour System. We find that there are significant differences between the two groups of workers in terms of the indicators “job interest”, “job challenging”, “job glory”, “satisfaction on the performance evaluation”, “possibility”, and “family life”.
