Summary: | 碩士 === 台北巿立體育學院 === 休閒與運動管理碩士班 === 95 === The purpose of this study was to probe into the psychological situation in self-confidence and the self-talk before and during the competition for Taiwan elite billiard competitors. The results of this study may be adopted to train the positive self-talk behaviors to improve the sport confidence, and eventually offer the coaches’ and players’ psychological training information in our nation in order to meet the trend of current sport training. The study was using the qualitative interview. The research subjects were the six national billiard players who participated at the 15th Asia Games at Doha 2006.
According to the outlines set for the interview, its results are in three parts:
1. The jet lag and the competition environment
When the player faced the jet lag problem or the bad condition of the competition environment, they will use positive and aggressive self-talk and pressure release method for the proper adjustment to increase the level of self-confidence.
2. Self and opponents’ playing styles
Majority of the players were using the accurate method in the game, but only two of them playing by exquisite style. When facing the same playing style or different playing style, the self-talk could be positively inspiriting, soothing, or blaming tones. Most players favor positive encouragement so that they will have higher self-confidence to face the competition.
3. Situation for practice or competition
When the players faced different situations either during the practice or competition, the solution will be different each time but with the similar ideas. When faced the difficulties, the players might inspirit, soothe, or blame oneself. Most players use the positive self-talk to arouse and boost the level of self-confidence.
