The research subjects were Taipei City elementary school second and third graders, including those who are in regular class and those who are with learning disability. The instrument used in this study was “Visual Search Ability Test, VSAT” with 647 normative samples in standardization process. In terms of comparative method, we compared 56 students in regular class and 52 students with learning disabilities, and had the study results as follows: 1. The test results show that in visual search ability, Taipei City elementary school third graders performed significantly better than second graders; in terms of gender, there was no significant difference between male and female students. 2. When comparing the test sections of schoolchildren in regular class and those with learning disability, except there is no significant difference in “symbol comparison” and “visual differentiation” between normal and learning disability schoolchildren, the result shows that the other regular second and third graders schoolchildren perform better in grade and each section in the test. 3. When comparing the test sections of schoolchildren indifferent graders, third graders schoolchildren perform better than second graders. Except there is no significant difference in “symbol comparison” in all graders and all normal schoolchildren in all test sections, the result shows that the other second and third graders schoolchildren perform better in other test sections, and the difference is greater when the question is more difficult. 4. In terms of gender, the test results show that in all test sections of TSAT, there was no significant difference between male and female students. 5. For schoolchildren with different background variables, the interaction in the “Test of Visual Search Ability, TVSA”, there is no significant interaction between students and graders, students and genders, graders and genders. 6. The norm was established using raw score, percentile and T-score for second and third graders in the test. 7. Finally, the study provide suggestion for practical teaching and future studies
