As well, it investigates the relative degree of usage of mental state terms between mother and child. Researchers worked with 20 pairs of mothers and children(ages 4~5), and observed their interactions while reading together after school time. The information was collected twice, with a gap of four months between the two times. This was based on the structure found in “Belief” as the primary mental state term. The first time, they used the book Dong Dong wait a Minute and The Lonely Fire Fly. The second time, they used the book Dong Dong wait a Minute and The dog Lan-Lan .In order to remove the possibility of language impediment playing a role, the researchers utilized certain psychometrics based on MUL to control the experience. Highlights of the research are as follows: 1.The focus of the research was on four types of terminology, those related to belief, desire, modulation of assertion, and contrastives. The “Belief” aspects could be rather broad in concept, and could cover epistemic, awareness of false beliefs, convictions, fictional aspects, and memories as five variables. “Desire”was largely applied in relation to a goal and to a certain action and attitude as defined by the mental state terminology being used. The goal of「 modulation of assertion 」variables were used in the degree of certainty regardind facts. The other important areas were contrastives, including mental state-realty contrastives and individual contrastives. 2.The children’s language ability were partialed out when examining correlations between mother mental states term and child mental states term. both mother and child showed simultaneous usa ge of mental state terms at one point of time. In two points of time, this is not the case. In terms of “belief” and “Desire” , After partialed out child’s language ability, both mother and child show simultaneous usage of mental state terms at one point of time. As well, the mothers’ initial use of “belief”term was closely correlates by the children’s use of “ desire” term in the later,. the mothers’ initial use of “desire”term was closely correlates by the child’s use of “ desire”term in the later. 3.In other findings, the mother, through naming, clarification, and scaffolding (among other strategies) helped the child to better understand mental state terms both him/herself and from others.
