碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 中國語文學系碩士班 === 95 === A Study of “Heaven Sword And Dragon Sabre”, a novel of Jin Yong “Heaven Sword And Dragon Sabre”, one of the greatest full-length novels from Jin Yong, composes a big and complicated descriptive structure and arranges numerous and variable characters and stimulates deep thoughts by descriptions of complexity and conflicts of human beings. It is literature full of arts, legends and interests and manifests writer’s great skills in structuring plots, using languages and forming characters as well. We have seen variable turns in plots, simple but smooth descriptions and distinguishing characters in this novel, and those features make it achieve high standard of arts. It is not only a great work in the martial arts novel, but also in contemporary Chinese literature. To make this excellent martial arts novel have fair judgments, the thesis takes “Heaven Sword And Dragon Sabre” as the subject of study. The thesis has five chapters. Chapter one, “Preface”, introduces the thesis, explains motivation, goal, range and method of study, and generally presents the structure of the thesis. Chapter two, “Jin Yong And His Works”, has three sections. Section one, Introduction of Jin Yong, describes writer’s life, chronicles his works in order to manifest clear presentation and comparison of novelist’s changes in life with development of the times and step further into Jin Yong’s world of creation. Section two, Jin Yong’s novels, observes the fad to Jin Yong’s novels in Taiwan, Mainland China and overseas, lists different versions of Jin Yong’s novels in order to find out the reasons, which makes Jin Yong’s novels popular. Section three, General description of studies of Jin Yong’s novels, introduce studies in Taiwan, Mainland China and overseas and judgments in literature and disputes aroused by Jin Yong’s novels. Chapter three, Arts of writing of “Heaven Sword And Dragon Sabre” 1, has three sections and discusses the novel in terms of thoughts of subject, structure of plots and mode of description. Chapter four, Arts of writing of “Heaven Sword And Dragon Sabre 2”, uses three sections to analyze the form of novel. It discusses the novel in terms of depiction of characters, descriptions of environment and usage of language. Chapter five, Conclusion, presents conclusive arguments, tries to explain the fad and inspirations of works by Jin Yong, who born in Mainland China and became famous in Hong Kong, and confirms these works’ status and importance in the history of Chinese Literature.
