As a result, the use of carbon dioxide utilization in the design has become an important research issue today. In this thesis, we have successfully carried out four case studies from a viewpoint of process design and integration:“ MTBE wastewater treatment with supercritical CO2”, “DMF production using supercritical CO2”, “CO2 removal by hot potassium carbonate process”, and “Extraction of caffeine from raw green coffee beans.” Two software were utilized in the research – AspenPlus and SuperTarget. The former was used for the process synthesis, design, and simulation; the latter was used to carry out the pinch analysis and the synthesis of heat exchanger network.
