However, the sensor node power supply either through power line or battery still obstacles the sensing system distribution. In this study, a novel sensor networks powered by the artificial light was constructed to achieve wireless power transmissions and wireless data communications for the thermal comfort measurements. The sensing node integrates an IC-based temperature sensor, the radiation thermometer, the relative humidity sensor, a micromachined flow sensor and the microprocessor for predicted mean vote (PMV) calculation. The 935 Mhz band RF module was employed for the wireless data communication with the specific protocol based on the special energy beacon enabled mode. That realized zero power consumption during the node inactive periods. A 3.5W spotlight with dual axis tilt platform can power the distributed nodes in the distance up to 4 meters. The light-powered sensor networks are able to gather the indoor comfort sensing index in good agreement with the comfort sensing vote (CSV) of a human being and the experimental results within the environment suggest that the sensing system can be used in air conditioning system to realize the comfort-optimal control strategy.
