Their product processes use many kinds of solvent and exhaust to atmosphere. Although, the exhaust stream have been treated to meet EPA regulation by air pollution controlled device before exhaust to atmosphere. But the air stream remain some component to make some odor even its concentration is lower. It will let the air fill inconvenience smell.
Biofilter have lower energy consumption and lower operation cost benefits compare the other kinds of disposal methods of VOC abatement system. Bio•oxidizers are a living community of fungi and bacteria housed in a biomatrix (compost type material) that utilize Carbon as their primary food source. The principle of Biofilter that contaminated air is introduced to the biofilter and the Carbon molecules are captured and digested by the microbial population. They in turn exhaust carbon dioxide and water vapor to the atmosphere.
This research was referring to BRI company experiences and many research papers in bio-trickling and Biofilter field. Then we had build software and hardware of the pilot unit. The research work was including the equipment construction (automatic control system, modular tank design, etc), equipment operation and parameters, fungi and bacteria tame and domesticate, enhance the removal efficiency. It will make the good environmental for the bacteria and fungi to treat the odor stream.
The test result to show the inlet low concentration to get high removal efficiency when the bacteria suitable the environment of tower. Inlet high concentrations will influent the removal efficiency. To adjust the value of PH will decrease the removal efficiency. The high temperature will get bad removal efficiency for the Biofilter tank. The inlet concentration to have big differential will decrease the removal efficiency.
