The objective of this thesis is to design and implement a converter of xenon lamp for automotive applications. The converter consists of a DC/DC boost stage, a DC/AC conversion stage and an igniter. The fly-back topology is adopted for DC/DC boost stage for simplicity. Moreover, full-bridge topology is used for DC/AC stage to give a low frequency square wave power to HID lamp avoid the acoustic resonance. The design specifications of the converter are: input voltage = 12 V/DC, output voltage = 85 V/AC and output rating is 35 W.
