First, two type of PVA, BP05 with hydrolysis about 88 mole%, or BC05 with hydrolysis about 74 mole%, was blended and reacted with maleic anhydride polyethylene in a banbury mixer. The uptake of water or o-xylene was measured. It was found that the uptake of water is about 6.62wt% after 8 hours for the modified polymers with 60 wt% of PVA (BP05), and is 6.72wt% for the modified polymers with 50 wt% of PVA (BC05). The polymers with 70wt% of PVA show good resistance to o-xylene. O-xylene permeability of modified polymer with 70wt% of PVA (BP05) is about (0.42%/day) after 14 days. The tensile modulus of the modified PVA decreases with increasing of polyethylene grafted maleic anhydride. The Young''s modulus is about 44.7 MPa for the polymers with 70wt% PVA (BP05), and 162.7 MPa for the polymers with 70wt% PVA (BC05). 鄭國忠 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 134 zh-TW
