Description
Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 建築學系 === 96 === The Dutch architecture has caused extensive discussion internationally in recent years, and Rem Koolhaas specially brought intense influence. He promoted an orientation applying research work to the design process. Many young architects from OMA follow the same way with which they do their design by research, and MVRDV is among the best of them. My introduction will begin from the process of Dutch modern architecture in the past century, and then explain the position of MVRDV in the history of Dutch architecture. Through reading the published texts I’ve got understanding about the architectural theories elaborated by MVRDV. And I went to visit MVRDV’s office and interviewed with the staffs, and did a survey on their works. Then I established the research theme for my thesis - “the density “. I think it can be called density aesthetics with which MVRDV responds to the issue of density by their architecture. Then I put forth a theoretical framework of density aesthetics. First is Sustainable Development. Second is the Maximum of Floor Area Ratio (FARMAX). Third is Extreme. Fourth is Datascape. And I summarize the spatial expression of density aesthetics on the building space through case studies. First is Stacking and Layering. Second is Mix Program. Third is Inversion. Fourth is Formless. Furthermore, I analyzed the constructive expression of density aesthetics through several cases, and concluded into three points. They are Invisible Detail including sculpture form and continuous layer, Detail of Datascape, and Fantastic detail. Finally I make a comprehensive analysis on the relation between the space and detail which have been developed from the density aesthetics of MVRDV.
