碩士 === 慈濟大學 === 宗教與文化研究所 === 95 === Tzu Chi Foundation was found by Dharma Master Cheng Yen in 1966; through these 41 years, Dharma Master Cheng Yen has diffused Buddhism to disciples by using comprehensible language to encourage them practicing Buddhism in their daily livings. By helping the needy, giving joy and putting out suffering, there have been 200 chapters and nearly 4 million members around the world. This study is going to focus on Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s “Master’s aphorisms”, and analyze how its essences bringing out “Tzu Chi Culture”, “The way of the Bodhisattva Path in the world of mortals”, and its spiritual reflection to disciples. This study is begun with Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s biography and the progress of how Tzu Chi Foundation is formed. Hence, the writer is going to expatiate on the start of “Master’s aphorisms” in detail, define it in both general and specific terms from her own perspective, and prove these findings corresponsive with her analysis. There will be two parts in this study that the writer shares her personal experience of being a participant in Tzu Chi to give more profound evidence that Dharma Master Cheng Yen and “Master’s aphorisms” can inspire each member in Tzu Chi not just physically but internally. There are two main aspects to study for. One is to study from the disciples’ daily spiritual practicing, and the other one is focus on Tzu Chi’s charity workers’ “Master’s aphorisms fulfillment.” The people attend and join Tzu Chi are from various trades and professions, including elites in every field, entrepreneurs, bourgeoisies, and even those illiterate elder people; however, they all come to Tzu Chi with the same reason that they are touched and inspired by Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s words. It shows that Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s “Master’s aphorisms” has great impact on each individual. Moreover, “Master’s aphorisms” are even introduced to students and teachers in schools for guiding them toward good values and truth of life. It is almost the end of 21st century; the trend of “Master’s aphorisms” truly delivers “the cycle of virtue”. People should not overlook its impact on “Purify Minds.”
