Taiwan government hasn’t any official statistics and the official immigration policy about immigrant women before 1994. A lot of laws and the regulations don’t consider about the immigration woman's particular right, causes the advantage of these newly female immigrates are restricted.
On May 13, 2003 the employment service law was revised, release the work permission of immigrant women, this law 48th stipulation:” The immigrant women marry with civilian live in the boundaries of Republic of China, can obtain the right of residence and need not to apply for any permission to work in Taiwan. Another China spouses obtain the right of residence or apply to the low income requirement or disable standard may work in Taiwan.
But the current work permission system is unable to solve the employment of immigration woman, due to the suspicion and the insufficiency confidence and the negative report about them. Although government currently promote some policy to take care the immigrant woman, but the majority immigrant woman often to refuse when they seek works in Taiwan, so they just be engaged in the short-term and temporary work. I t is not easy to be employed stably.
This research discusses difficult situation about immigrant woman in the Taiwan labor market and search some suggestions by government's policies and NPO function to help immigrant woman to join Taiwan labor market. Therefore immigrant woman human resources and work right can be improved in Taiwan.
