Summary: | 碩士 === 樹德科技大學 === 資訊管理研究所 === 95 === In knowledge economy times, one who can master knowledge and information will enable to create his or her own future. In spite of this, digital divide has happened with the development of information society, which has worsened the problems of social inequality, unfairness and injustice. Therefore, the issues on how to reduce digital divide and how to change it into a digital opportunity are essential to regional development.
The issue on digital divide can be discussed by two methods: quantitative data analysis and qualitative data analysis. With regard to the recent relevant research, digital divide has been gradually reduced in quantity while more discussion is about the analysis of information literacy in quality. The purpose of this study aims to understand the current level of information literacy acquired by elementary school students and the possible factors that affect their information literacy. The study was conducted by the self-edited questionnaire "The exploration and analysis of the current digital divide among the elementary school students".
The overall information literacy of elementary school students has reached a certain level; however,. In addition, influenced by the factors such as information environment, and personal background, big gaps exist in library literacy, media literacy, computer literacy, the Internet literacy, and the overall information literacy. The variables which have great effects on students' information literacy include living areas, urbanization of schools, computer equipment at home, the Internet and on-line equipment, the years of using computers, the hours of using the relevant equipment, the grades, the family social and economic status, ,and digital divide seems to be affected by unequal social construction. What's more, individual information literacy has greater influence than information equipment and information access, and has become the most important factor which has led to digital divide in today's society.
Due to the limited number of the subject groups, it is hoped that future research can enlarge the scale of the subjects and the investigation area so that a less biased and more complete picture can be drawn from the findings and the research results about information literacy.
