Summary: | 碩士 === 聖約翰科技大學 === 自動化及機電整合研究所 === 95 === Present study applied the mobile recording system to observe the driving behavior by integrated with laser speed measurement, CCD cameras, digital recorder and auxiliary power system. Observations were made at two different sites involving urban and suburb area. After removal of the interfered instances, the 1,939 instances of driving behavior were measured. Further, an independent sample t-test was applied to examine the mean speed between two groups such as drivers’ characteristics (gender, age), and traffic conditions. The results of t-test indicated that the mean speeds were statistically significant difference between drivers’ gender. Males drove faster significantly with a mean speed of 37.23 km/h than females (33. 39 km/h). In addition, the mean speed of younger subjects was fast significantly than others (37.69 versus 33.75 km/h). For effect of traffic signals, Duncan ‘s multiple comparisons showed that the mean speed was lowest during the onset of red at intersection (23.25 km/h under speed limit) as compared to amber light (13.24 km/h under speed limit), and green light (0.52 km/h under speed limit). Results of present study have important implications for drivers’ speed control and driving behavior while approaching the intersections. These results could be applied for traffic engineering, road design, and traffic safety.
