The absence of Taiwanese men from this activity has possibly something to do with the prevalence of “hegemonic masculinity”. This research applies Hall's theory on the interpretation of the main types of the Subjectivity, assuming that those who take part in the yoga might have a better chance to re-think about the possibility of challenging "hegemonic masculinity". There are at least three possible categories: re-consolidating、deconstructing、opposing/ resisting. This thesis takes the position that“ hegemonic masculinity” is neither a constant nor homogeneous existence, and it gains its power in the form of competition. From the participants’ narratives, it is found that not all participants are gender sensitive, some participants are re-consolidating “hegemonic masculinity” either consciously or unconsciously. Depending on their individual experiences related to social and cultural interaction, male Yoga participants hold different views on "hegemonic masculinity".
