Description
Summary:碩士 === 東吳大學 === 歷史學系 === 95 === This thesis is intended to explore the American images projected in the nine political propaganda films produced in Taiwan by government funding during the periods from 1960s to 1980s on the basis of the discourse of the historiophoty. On the part of the so-called “return journey” film, the movies such as “Home, Sweet Home” and “Long Way from Home”, mainly dealing with the subject of urging overseas Chinese students and residents to return to home country for the sake of construction projects for a modern society, will be discussed in detail. As for the movies of “The Land of the Brave” and “Cold”, the Chinese perceptions of the America is torn between love and hate as a result of the breaking up of the diplomatic relationships between Republic of China and The United States of America in 1979. From the discussion of the war-oriented movies such as “14,000 Witness”,“Eight Hundred Heroes”, “Attack Force Z”, and “Flag is Honor”, we can obtain a positive depiction of the American images as a way of evoking the recollection of the alliance between China and America during the resistance war against Japan. The last but not the least is the movies of “The Kinmen Bombs,” it is to reveal the capacity and determination of the self-defense on the part the government on Taiwan against the bombing from the mainland China on the one hand, and the role played by the America during the Taiwan Strait Crisis in 1958 on the other.
