They usually use a tradition map to find a route, but the map maybe too detailed or too unclear. It is impossible to driver a car and look at a traditional map at the same time, in even well- traveled and unknown environments. Therefore drivers need a DRM (Driving Route Map) which is a simple and useful map. An ideal DRIS (Driving Route Information System) is to delete redundancy and keep necessary road information in addition to adding information or distance, travel time and where to turn. GPS users can link up to a DRM and can reduce the chance that a driver becomes confused due to inaccuracy in the system. If the driver doesn’t buy GPS, he or she can still use DRM to get directions to the destination. Our goal is to construct a DRIS (Driving Route Information System) with GML/ XML Schema. We use GML tags to design an Application Schema which is called DRI (Driving Route Information). The DRI accords with DRI/GML standard format for saving documents. This system includes two parts, first is the DRD (Driving Route Description), It uses words to give directions. In addition, DRI uses DRI/GML Application Schema to save documents. It can not only be viewed on a DRM system but also can be opened by DRD (Driving Route Description), DRI documents can be changed to DRI/GML Document Files. We hope that GML will be widely used online and that DRI/GML will arrow in popularity.
