The core characteristics would renew the individual’s self- perception and role-recognition through life goals, responsibilities, and affections of the career. Therefore, the performance of expertise would have some impact on the self-concept in career anchor. The purpose of the present study was mainly to investigate the association between the professional expertise and career anchors among chefs. The in-depth interview and survey method were applied and 72% usable data were collected among chefs with at least five-year full-time experiences in the hospitality industry. Different from Schien’s theory, the present study found five significant factors among chef’s career anchors and were named Full-play of Specialty, Challenge and Creativity, Entrepreneurship, Job Autonomyand, Managerial Promotion. The respondent’s perception toward professional expertise had a significant impact on the career anchors in terms of different positional levels. More results and implications were discussed in details.
