Improper mapping results to misunderstanding or wrong information, and creates so-called ‘ecological fallacy’. Little attention has been given to this point. The spatial representation of election results is important. This paper is intended as investigation of electoral map. Visual experiments are designed for this target. These experiments are developed for evaluating communication efficiency of electoral maps. In these experiments, observations focus on two factors, i.e., how much spending time in reading the map and the readers’ knowledge on maps. Electoral maps of two areas, Taipei city and Taiwan, are chosen in this study. For each group of thematic maps, four types of mapping, including histogram, graduated circle, Choroplethic method, and bivariate map, are considered. The results show that graduated circle map costs less time spending in reading, while the histogram map leads to the most correct understanding of the electoral results.
