碩士 === 國立高雄大學 === 都市發展與建築研究所 === 95 === There has been a boom in revitalization of culturally historical buildings in recent years, which induces the future orientation of cultural development. This means that the policy of pure “reuse of idle space” will be consigned to history in respect of the important strategies of urban regeneration and location marketing. For the industrial heritage, especially the study case, “Former Tangrong Brick Kiln”, the question is whether the heritage develops the uniqueness of space and creates new value of culture in line with the new trend of reusing ancient monuments currently preserved. In particular, as a result of the effect of migration of manufacturing industries on the Kaohsiung area and the great effort given by the local government to promote the tourism industry in recent years, cultural tourism has become a trend. As to the potential of cultural tourism of industrial heritage, it was proposed in 1990 to promote cultural tourism in order to improve the public’s perception of the technical and industrial heritage in the Ministerial Meeting of European Parliament where issues related to the technical and industrial heritage were discussed. This study probes the ways to develop the industrial heritage based on the goal of introducing cultural tourism into the industrial heritage to activate the industrial economy and by referring to development tools of urban regeneration. For truly reflecting the reality from the study process, we discuss some actual examples in the literature review and case analysis of the development progress of cultural assets preservation, the trend of world heritage preservation, the history of ancient monuments and urban development of Kaohsiung City, and the cultural tourism development in Kaohsiung City. The SWOT analysis is adopted to the space of the former Tangrong Brick Kiln, the analysis of the surrounding area and the reuse to obtain corresponding development strategies.
