However, it is a pity that these interesting myths or discussions have not received enough scholarly attention which they deserve. White Water of Tien Chi-Yuen is one such case. The author of this thesis believes that the value of Tien’s work does not only worth our appreciation as a spectator, it also calls for serious research in writing and evaluating. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to critically evaluate Tiens’ work from Brechtian theory in order to illuminate his importance as a theatre artist.
