The conventional Chinese auspicious charts are wide in variety, and rich in number and color. These charts are swiftly moving in minds, or recorded down in the papers of poets and scholars. Although they give many good hints, but can not show their full charts. The conventional auspicious paper-cut is one the typical example. It takes the pattern of arts first in civilian society, and gradually promoted to all levels of country. Its content is rich and colorful with unlimited value. The construction of auspicious characters and graphs, under different clever design and arrangement, turns special auspicious chart to meet both functional and decorative purposes. This makes Chinese character turning from solo pattern to multiple forms of artistic way. The social life is constantly in change, the conventional procedure of conventional paper-cut must accept the challenge of modern technology. In order to develop the art of paper-cut, the purpose of this paper is keeping conventional arts under the change of society. With the help of principles of construction design as the main technique, and under the support of statistic technique analyzes, the characters of construction of auspicious characters are made. The following is the report of this analysis. Among 352 collected paper-cut species of Fwu(福), Luh(祿), Show(壽) and Shii(喜), according to the number of character used, , they can be roughly classified into two categories, solo character-type and multiple-character-type. Solo type is more than the multiple one. As to their shape, circular is more than rectangular. As to the type of character used , “Black Type”(黑體) is the majority. To the number of character used, sol character is more than multiple one.. In case of character and chart combination, the character is located at central area, all graphs are putting on the both sides of it. Some of them the charts are arranged in radical way. In such combination, the character of the word takes auxiliary position. In order to show some important meaning, chart of water lily blossom. plum blossom, phoenix and magpie are commonly selected to show special purpose.. In such case the size of graph is larger than that of character. This is a kind of graph supporting character design. With such clever design, circular in shape, character located in center with black type of words, supported with either water lily blossom, or plum blossom, putting symmetrical arrangement. Through the difference between sizes of character and graph selected, reflects the ideas of “sky is circular and the earth is square” and “golden equilibrium” This shows the meaning of perfect(圓滿), with effects harmony and focusing visualization.
