According to the statistics in the Report on the Old Status Survey by the Ministry of the Interior in 2005, 60% of the senior citizens wished to live with their children and believed living with their children was the most ideal way of living. Therefore, under the premise that senior citizens still think their best choice is to spend their later years at home, the promotion of home care service will definitely become the most important part in the care system of Taiwan. Home care workers are the main work force in promoting home care service who generally offer individual home-based care. They are a group of people that deserve attention as they have a heavy workload and frequently interact with the patients’ relatives. Their care quality is believed to be closely related to their job satisfaction. Therefore, with the mainstream of the care system, the “aging in place” policy, home care service organizations should pay more attention to the job satisfaction of home care workers and other related issues. The objectives of this study are to examine the differences between different individual background variables and job satisfaction of home care workers and to explore the influential factors of the turnover intention of home care workers. This study employs a mass survey of home care workers from nine contracted private home care agencies of the Social Affairs Bureau of Taitung County Government in Taitung County. A total of 139 questionnaires were planned to be distributed. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis to obtain individual personal attributes, central tendency and perception of the job satisfaction and turnover intention. The mean, standard deviation, maximum value and minimum value were calculated. Inferential statistics were then used, including one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, regression analysis, and chi-square test, to obtain the following results: I. The differences between different individual attribute variables of home care workers and their job satisfaction as well as turnover intention, and whether the differences are significant. II. The correlations between different individual attribute variables of home care workers and their job satisfaction as well as turnover intention, and whether the correlations are significant. III. The correlation between job satisfaction and turnover intention using Pearson product-moment correlation. IV. Verification of the prediction ability of job satisfaction for turnover intention of home care workers using regression analysis Based on the results and findings of this study, we offer government authorities suggestions on how to improve the work environment and content, compensation, promotion channels, and support for home care workers, which will help to enhance their job satisfaction and commitment, implement the “aging in place” long-term care policy, and improve care quality. 碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 區域政策與發展研究所 === 95 === Abstract
In the long-term care system, the trend of “aging in place” has become a common consensus of domestic and international health and social welfare departments.
Inferential statistics were then used, including one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, regression analysis, and chi-square test, to obtain the following results:
IV. Verification of the prediction ability of job satisfaction for turnover intention of home care workers using regression analysis
Based on the results and findings of this study, we offer government authorities suggestions on how to improve the work environment and content, compensation, promotion channels, and support for home care workers, which will help to enhance their job satisfaction and commitment, implement the “aging in place” long-term care policy, and improve care quality.
