The inquiries in this study are from three dimensions: historical researches are through studies on cultural history to re-understand the Middle Ages and also through the concrete descriptions about the conflicts of social classes in the Middle Ages which were shown from Arthur’s introspection in the text ; narrative researches deconstruct the narrative frames in the text, and then use the writing stratege of meta-fiction to analyze the display of Arthur’s self-conscious in his diary to query the truth of the text firstly, and secondly to explore the double fiction of the text; interpretation researches go from the theory of reader response. Meanings produced by the interactions between texts and readers, and this echoes the uncertain parts arranged by writers. As a result, reading becomes calling and asks readers to interpret actively to create their own interpretive system. The discovery of this thesis gives a text the possibility to be checked from multiplicate angles, so the infinite space no matter in the area of history, narration or interpretation could make reading a fantastic pleasure.
