碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 教育研究所 === 95 === The purpose of this study is to explore the current structure and function circumstances of the parent organization in elementary schools in Taitung, the related problems and the ways to solve the problems. Additionally, based on the results from the study, the suggestions have been provided. The study referred to the questionnaire sheet,“The Structure and Function of Parent Organization in Elementary Schools in Pingtung’’ designed by Fu-chieh, Chen (2004). Furthermore, the revised questionnaire, “The Structure and Function of Parent Organization in Elementary Schools in Taitung”, which is based on the characteristics of scale and classification of elementary schools in Taitung, is used as the major tool. The population of the study is the 90 elementary schools and parent organizations in Taitung, and 60 elementary schools are selected by a probability sampling method, according to the scale proportion of the schools. The subjects included 120 educators（principals, directors and teachers who also carry out administration work）and 120 parents（presidents of parents` associations and parents from the parents` association.） In the event, a total of 204 questionnaires have been completed and returned. That represents a return rate of 85%. Data was analyzed through statistics methods of frequency distribution, percentage, chi-square test, and multiple-response. The main conclusions were as follows： 1.The structure and function of the parent organization in elementary schools in Taitung, don’t comply with the set-up plans at all. 2.The parent organization in elementary schools in Taitung can function well in communication and promoting cooperation between schools and parents, offering community resources and suggestions, and supervising school affairs. 3.The three major problems of the parent organization in elementary schools in Taitung are: first, the members don’t know their rights and duties; second, parents’ lack of time; and the last, parents’ representation problems. 4.The improvement in the structure and function of the parent organization in elementary schools in Taitung can be done by making laws, increasing society resources, and developing parents’ perceptions of participation in organizations. According to the results of study, some suggestions have been made for educational administration agencies, the elementary schools, parents` organization and future studies.
