This mechanism also covers strong cultural standard. According to the newly married statistics data released from the Minister of Interior, the average age of newly married couples have delayed. This phenomenon corresponds to “The Flight from Marriage” among most young generations in Asia countries. Does these kind of phenomenon that delay or refuse to get married represent social transition has affected the marriage system? Does commitments to the marriage have already lost the importance and attraction for young generations in Taiwan society? This research mainly focuses on the relationship of marriage and happiness for young generations. Then, analyze the differences of cause and effect about marital status and happiness. Next, compare the differences with marital status and gender in the long-term period. In the meantime, compare the differences with happiness for young generations. The study will use Glenn and Weaver’s(1988)statistical and analytical methods. Make use of the selection items which come from responses of marital status and self evaluation between “Taiwan Social Image Survey” and “Taiwan Social Change Survey” through 1992-2005. We utilize this method to analyze the relationship of cause and effect about marital status and happiness for young generations. Compare the long-term trend with marital and gender at the same time. We will check the long-term changing trend between marital status and happiness for young generations. Current results of different studies show that the affection of marriage to personnel welfare is not obvious. But the affection of marriage to personnel welfare shows that it is declining. However, the happiness of unmarried men and women in the same generation increases with age. The happiness of young women who are got married or not declines, no matter compare with the same generation or not. Although the results of studies about the happiness affected by marriage or the selection of marriage can’t provide exact evidence. Through 1992-2005, the data of marriage and happiness shows that effect of marriage selection in the earlier period is more important than later in Taiwan region. So, to increase the attraction of marriage is an important problem that Taiwan must face in the future. YANG, WEN-SHAN 楊文山 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 68 zh-TW
