Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 不動產與城鄉環境學系 === 95 === The theory of gentrification was first proposed by Ruth Glass on 1966, referring to the process of class succession and displacements in areas originally populated by working-class households. Lately until 1980 were there studies following up with the further research on the phenomenon of rural gentrification, focusing on factual observations with no supportive theory. Based on the theory mentioned above, this paper will explore the theory of rural gentrification and its impact on layouts of rural areas. Furthermore, this paper will introduce the space concepts modeled by Lefebvre and Soja to classify the impact of gentrification in rural areas. As this paper selected a specific area to conduct a case study concerning rural gentrification impact, that is Da-Jhou village at I-lan Sun-Shing County, the phenomena of rural gentrification over that area will be presented through different dimensions of the first, second and third space epistemology.
The results of this paper include the following two parts, the observations of rural gentrification and its special impact. Firstly, as for the gentrification research, the observations and calculated numbers show that most of the new immigrants to that area has/had sort of geo-nexus with the same County. As for the life-style of those immigrants, the research shows that the long-stay immigrants share the local life style better, but also have more-or-less influences on the local villagers. Nevertheless, the research concludes that the gentrification at Da-Jhou village will re-classify local populations. Secondly, as for the spatial impacts research, this paper observes that the land use at that area has changed due to rural gentrification and a complex consuming market substituted for the original rural agriculture market has occurred. As a result, this paper suggests that the impact of gentrification should be taken into consideration for policy-makers to coordinate a comprehensive policy of rural development in Yilan County.
