The results of this study will provide orientation for future plans to promote art-learning programs. The research is based on literature analysis, interviews, and questionnaires. The subjects interviewed for the study are members of (or are related to) The Xi-zhi Community Classroom for Mothers, and the questionnaire subjects were female students of art programs held by The Xi-zhi Community Development Association. Effective questionnaires calculate 204. After obtaining the original data, and analyzing them according to our research purpose, the findings are: 1.According to illustrations, art-learning demands can be categorized into three art essential demands (cognition, creativity, and admiration). Two additional expectational demands are obtained from interviews on course planning and after class feedback. Community women prefer learning art through traditions and outdoor visits. The age, education level, and marital status difference do not affect either category of the art-learning demands. 2.From documental investigations and analyzing interviews and questionnaires, we found that factors that promote community women to participate in art-learning programs included: Interest Cognition, Convenience of The Course, Social Contacts, Retreat or Motivate, and Outer Expectations. Factors preventing community women to participate in art-learning programs include: Personal Factors, Organizational and Course Factors, and Life Style Factors. Difference in occupation effected factors such as Interest Cognition,Retreat or Motivate etc. 3.The backgrounds of the women in Xi-zhi community are complex and multivariant. Students in art learning generally demand for practical participation, which conforms with the status of community art-learning programs at present. Course related factors are the main influence for women of the Xi-zhi community to participate learning art. Lin, Yan-Dan 林炎旦 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 234 zh-TW
