Three instruments were adopted: 1. the fairness perception questionnaire composed of 4 story situations; 2. the sociometric scale questionnaire; and 3. the oral representation scoring rubrics with 9 indicators used for peer assessment. Students (4-6 grades) were randomly separated into two groups. The experimental group participated in a 4-week training and practice session of oral presentation scoring rubrics. Meanwhile the control group stayed in their class with the original learning arrangement. Three-way ANOVA was used to analyze data. Results indicated that the training helped students improve the quality of peer assessment. Students in the control group were influenced by their perception of fairness. Those who considered unfair punishment more severe overestimated the popular peers. Those who considered unfair reward more severe underestimated the rejected peers. Those who feel indifferent overestimated the popular peers but underestimated the rejected peers. Implications and suggestions for further research were provided.
