Eighteen foreign mothers whose children study at self-contained special class in Taipei City and County were interviewed by questionnaire. The findings of this study were as follows: 1.The realization of the rights of parent involvement for the foreign mothers was still insufficient, especially on educational placement and transition. 2.The percentage of the foreign mothers' involvement in their children's special education was not high. Among which, the involvement of home activity, identification and assessment was higher while educational placement was the lowest. 3.According to priority, the main factors affecting the foreign mothers' involvement in their children's special education were (1) lack of time; (2) without being informed or receiving letters of notice from schools; (3) involvement substituted by the other family members; (4) Chinese language proficiency, and (5) involvement regarded as unnecessary. 4.The foreign mothers' educational background and the family income didn't affect the foreign mothers' involvement in their children's special education. 5.The foreign mothers who worked were more active than those who were housewives in realizing their children's assessment or identification. According to the findings, some implications and suggestions were provided for the school authorities, special education teachers, foreign spouses' family and future researchers.
