Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 航運管理學系 === 95 === Human factor is the mail reason that endangers aviation safety, and fatigue is one of the key factors related to human factor. Air traffic controllers provide concerning information to pilots in the course of flying and play a very important role in aviation safety. Due to their specific work characteristics such as long duty time at night, controllers easily feel tired, which might result from the imbalance of their body clock or insufficient sleep. Therefore, this research applied fatigue measurement tables to obtain controllers’ physical and psychological fatigue levels and investigated the difference between the levels before duty and after duty. Controllers in the area control center, the approach control tower, and the aerodrome control tower were investigated. We also discussed about possible factors that cause air traffic controllers’ fatigue.
Results from exploratory statstic analysis found that it’s more obvious for physical fatigue than psychological fatigue due to the controller’s work duty. In addition, the conciousness of controllers was affected by sleeping habits at home on holidays, sleeping quality at the night before duty and duty hours in the last three days. Finally, we compared the fatigue levels of controllers in the three mentioned control institutes. The result shows that the fatigue level of controllers in the area control center is more serious than the ones in the other two control institutes.
Key words: air traffic controllers’ fatigue, fatigue measurement, aviation safety.
