The main purpose of this study was to investigate elementary school and junior high school principals’ cognition and execution on Health Promoting Schools(HPS). Also, it estimate the relationship among the personal factors, school factors, cognition and execution on health promotion school work. The subject of the study were the school principals in Changhua County in 2005. The data were collected by using interview based on the structural questionnaire with the effective sample of 55.
The major findings of the study are as follows:
1. The subject cognition on HPS were community relationships, the school’s social environment, health services, health instruction (personal health skills), physical environment of the school and the school health policies in sequence.
2.The influencing factors of the subject cognition on HPS were not age, teaching experience, training activities about HPS and credit in health .
3. The influencing factors of the subject execution on HPS were age, training activities about HPS, budgets, assist manpower of the HPS, understanding extent of HPS and support of staffs.
4. The cognition and execution on HPS was relatied. The cognition of school health policy presented positive correlation with the execution of the school health and health service.
5.The main predictor of the subject execution on HPS were understanding extent of HPS and training activities about HPS .
