Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 圖書資訊學研究所 === 95 === The main purpose of this study was to investigate the use and space planning issues of elementary school libraries. The researcher adopted the method of Post-Occupancy Evaluation from the perspectives in Environmental Psychology. This study focused on the analysis of interactions and impact factors between users’ behaviors and spatial environments. By investigating one of the Taipei elementary school libraries from the users' aspects, this study endeavored to explore the perceptions and needs of library users, and determined the factors advantageous and disadvantageous to the teachers and students. Major suggestions on spatial planning were provided for the reference of school library managers in their current and future demand.
For collecting the necessary data, the researcher used varied of methods including content analysis, participatory observation, constructive observation, environmental observation, semi-constructive interview, and children’s painting analysis. The main findings and conclusions are described from seven different aspects as follows:
a.Activities users usually do in the school library.
b.Use situation in different library areas.
c.Perceptions and experience of users after using the library.
d.Services the elementary school library provide for users.
e.Factors affecting the use of library areas.
f.Users’ needs in elementary school library space.
g.Holistic analyses on the spatial planning and management in elementary school.
Finally, the researcher addresses further suggestions in the design of elementary school libraries for school managers. The suggestions are, a) establish a concise development plan and identify the role of school libraries, b) design appropriate furniture for library users, c) regularly examine and evaluate the physical environment, d) reduce interruptions between the classes, e) each area in the library should be well allocated to increase their functional effectiveness, f) interior design should be accepted by the library users, g) plan the recreation area for users to relax, h) set up a discussion room for users to discuss and exchange, i) add interesting elements in the library, but should not interfere in the nice reading atmosphere, j) acquiring more materials and facilities that will meet the needs of users, k) enhance the library use activities in different library areas.
