Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 諮商與輔導研究所 === 95 === The purpose of this study is to explore the decision-making for break-up and the process of adjustment following the end of a close relationship. According to narrative research approach, the data was collected by depth interview and analyzed in a holistic-content perspective. The finds are as followed:
1.The decision-making of break-up:(1)The decision-making of break-up is a running and incubating process. The features of this process is recalling back and thinking about the interaction and changes, followed by formulating a decision.(2)Clients will go through a confused period when thinking about breaking up. They often have negative mental state, inclusive of confusion, fidget or being reluctant to give up, etc.(3)To think about break-up, clients often met unbalanced situations in giving and taking . For those marriageable clients, whether their mates are suitable for marriage is a crucial factor for consideration.
2.The process of adjustment:(1) In the process of adjustment, a change of guilt is the key point. Some love relationships end up in the third person interpose. This situation will need more time to handle, in order to gain back the mutual trust and confidence.(2) Clients who suggest breaking up are less grief but more guilty and self-reproached along with such positive mental state as buoyancy and relief. They seldom feel sickin physical aspects.(3)In this research, factors which are good for adjustment include social support, a new boy/girl friend, finding an active meaning from the passed breakup, etc..
Finally, practical suggestions and reference for further study will be proposed based on the result of the research.
