The purposes of the study were (1) to investigate how undergraduate students use blogs; (2) to probe into the discrepancy between the pattern of blog use among undergraduate students and the pattern of their lives, social support, and social relationship; (3) to investigate the correlation among the internal factors of blog use, social support in blogs and in reality, and their social relationships; (4) to understand the social relationship and social support the undergraduate students had in reality and in blogs. The subjects of this study were 560 undergraduate students in southern Taiwan. The data were collected by using questionnaires. The followings were the main findings of the study: 1. Undergraduate students with different blog using patterns had no significant difference in actual social relationship and social support of blog. Part of the using experience showed a significant difference in social relationship of blog and actual social support. 2. In browsing phase, undergraduate students with different blog using patterns had significant difference in actual social relationship, social relationship of blog, actual social relationship and social support of blog. 3. In writing phase, undergraduate students with different blog using patterns had significant difference in actual social relationship and actual social relationship. Part of the writing behavior showed a significant difference in social relationship of blog and social support of blog. 4. In response phase, undergraduate students with different blog using patterns had no significant difference in actual social relationship. All the response behaviors showed significant differences in social relationship of blog, actual social support and social support of blog. 5. In the actual social relationship phase, the willingness to share, self-disclosure, the recognition attainment, the consciousness in social groups and the actual social relationship all had low correlation. 6. In the social relationship phase in the blog, the willingness to share, self-disclosure, the recognition attainment, the consciousness in social groups and the social relationship of blog all had medium correlation. 7. In the actual social support phase, the willingness to share, self-disclosure, the recognition attainment, the consciousness in social groups and the actual social support all had low correlation. 8. In the social support phase in the blog, the willingness to share, the consciousness in social groups and the social support of blog had medium correlation. Self-disclosure, the recognition attainment and the social support of blog had low correlation. 9. The social support in reality and in blogs among undergraduate students had medium correlation. 10. The social relationships in reality and in blogs had medium correlation.
