We prepare trienyl compounds by combining side chain of the diene with 3-methylcyclohept-2-enol. We form the cyclohexane ring by an intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction, which has been used to form related [5, 4, 0]undecane. Now, we have the part of the carbon skeleton of Guanacastepene A.
