Besides, the children would be satisfied when they are learning, then they will have the well foundation of lifelong study.
As present retrieving technology, most of them use the keywords to be the retrieval way and the main foundation. However, as regarding the complex questions, people use the concept of Boolean expression for the precisely receives seeks. Further, as far as schoolchildren’s concern, due to their uncompleted cognition development, schoolchildren can not find out the keywords from the question phrases or sentences. Besides, schoolchildren can not get the exactly topic because the cognition glossary which they know are too little to search for cross-search. However, schoolchildren spend lots of time on searching but actually they can not get what they need. It is possible that this situation will make schoolchildren feel frustrated, then it will affect the effect of study.
This research is started from three points which are the child cognition development, learning theories, and the user interface. They are discussed about the difficulties when schoolchildren are using the search tools. Further, this research offers a concept of guided search interface for helping schoolchildren to solve their problem when they are using the search engine and to assist schoolchildren in constructing their concept of Boolean expression.
This research is using the quasi-experimental designs, and there are 120 students in Taichung county to be our sample. The samples are divided into experimental group and comparison group by their different interface tests. This research result can be used for guiding students to a notable effectiveness in using the strategy of using the key word with Boolean, and the correctness and efficiency of answer. At last, this study finds that students who use the guiding searching interface are better than students who do not use it. However, the guiding searching interface can students avoid to key in the wrong keywords. Further, the guiding searching interface can help students to clarify the structure of their questions, and to offer some more suitable keywords for searching the right answer. Thus, the result of this study can be an important basis of designing suitable searching interface for schoolchildren.
